River Family,
One of the greatest things we can do as a church is simply show up for one another—to encourage, pray, celebrate, and remind each other that none of us has to walk this journey alone.
“One generation shall commend your works to another,
and shall declare your mighty acts.”
— Psalm 145:4
This Sunday is PARENT DEDICATION, and we have families who are making a public commitment to raise their children to know and follow Jesus. I want to ask you to be there to encourage them. These parents aren’t promising to be perfect. They’re saying, “With God’s help, we want to point our children toward Jesus.” And as their church family, we get to stand beside them and say, “We’re with you.”
Come ready to celebrate these families, pray over them, and remind them that The River is committed to helping the next generation know Jesus.
And let’s keep praying together.
“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”
— Colossians 4:2
FIRST MONDAY PRAYER is another opportunity for us to gather and seek God together. There is something powerful about a church that doesn’t just talk about prayer but actually prays. This one looks a little different. If you’ve been to a FMP before you know we typically gather and pray together, Starting Monday, Oct. 5, we will open the Worship Center at Noon and it will remain open all day until 8pm. Come and go on your own schedule. There will be prayer stations, prayer prompts, and even notes to write encouraging prayers for people! So, come go through the prayer stations and leave when you need to. It’s gonna be awesome!
Then at 6pm on Sunday, October 18 at the Church of Christ, churches from across our community will come together for our COMMUNITY NIGHT OF PRAYER.
One GOD | One HEART | One COMMUNITY
Different churches — Different traditions — One community gathering to seek the same God and pray for our families, schools, leaders, churches, those who are hurting, and for God to move powerfully in Panhandle.
Jesus said:
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
— Matthew 18:20
Church, these moments matter.
Let’s be a church that stands with families, invests in the next generation, and believes that prayer still changes things.
I love being your pastor, and I love getting to seek God alongside you.
Pastor Brent
