Church!
Whoa, what a crazy week this has been! What started as an easy breezy weekend road trip to Kyle, Tx for Fathers Day and preaching, turned into one of the scariest “adventures” of my life.
We met up with Ashley‘s family in Arlington on Friday, drove to Kyle to stay in an Airbnb, get some barbecue at Interstellar, preach at Heirloom Church on Sunday because our sweet friends (Pastor) Dakota and Maggie Adair were expecting their third child, and just enjoy a Fathers Day away.
All was well until Sunday am.

I got a call from my brother, who thought he was having a heart attack. He had called 911, but when they got there, he denied a hospital transport because he was feeling better. When he called to fill me in, I begged him and all but big-brother-made-him call them back and go to the hospital.
“Thank you, Lord.” He did.
They took him by ambulance to the hospital, discovered a ruptured aorta, and immediately care-flight(ed?) him to another hospital to have emergency bypass surgery. We just nearly lost my brother, Mike.
But God. He is already off pain meds (2 days after open heart surgery) and all other fluids, hoping to move from ICU to a regular room today. We are now on teenager duty. This is a crash course in parenting. Like learning to swim in the middle of the Pacific.
I need the pain meds he no longer needs.

I did preach at Heirloom Sunday — not gonna lie, I’m not sure what happened there. My heart was all in, but my brain was with my brother. It was genuinely an amazing service, with wonderful people, planting a church in a church-hardened or avoided culture. God is
moving there, people are being saved by Gods grace, the church is growing! Thanks for letting us go do that!
We cannot wait to be back with our church family this Sunday to unpack the most famous, and simple, and memorable, but complex Psalms of all. Psalm 23.
AND BAPTISM!!!
Let’s go!
