What a week, huh? I’m completely heartbroken for the families who lost so much in the fires. But as you and I know, feeling — even feeling heartbroken — is not enough. There is a very nice sympathy that lives in that space, but our God is a God of action, and He has called us to be more (1 John 3:18). Breakthrough lives in the MORE. Breakthrough happens when we become the hands and feet of Jesus (Psalm 18:24). Breakthrough happens when Jesus gets into the dark places and becomes the light people need most (John 1:5). You and I are THE way He chose to shine to that light (Matthew 5:16).
So, today we get to BE more of Jesus to our neighbors. START HERE (choose Panhandle Emergency Relief from the drop down menu) by giving something extra to help meet real needs for those devastated by the fires. Keep praying for them, and ask God what HE wants from you. And we will do MORE in the weeks to come by being unWEAK — Panhandle strong — God in Us — and helping people rebuild their lives.
Also, please pray for our students as they kick off Disciple Now tonight. It will be a weekend filled with God’s Word, worship, laughter, food, stories, and life change! Pray for Bradlee (Youth Minister) and Emma Brandvik, the college leaders who are here to serve this weekend, the families hosting students, for travel between locations, for safety, and for God to MOVE!
If you know anyone who needs support, prayer, or needs met, please let us know!
Sunday morning will be really important. We will pray together for those in need, explore some boots on the ground responses to God’s call, and celebrate communion. Sure do love doing this with you, Church!
